Double Matte Foundation Review

I really was interested in trying some of Estee Lauder's other foundations so I picked up the Double Matte foundation. I really wanted to see if it lived up to its name and give it a try.
Similar size to the Double Wear bottle, and with no pump top! I really wish they would put those on their products already.

I got the shade Cool Ivory it was the lightest shade that I saw on the Macys website, but I am not sure if they carry a larger range of this color inside stores.

I wanted to take a picture of the descriptions it came with to show what it says it does and compare it to what it actually did for me.

Here is a close up of the top of the bottle and the color of the shade, and I am not going to lie I was very nervous by this color. The color looked WAY tooo dark for my skins and it was the lightest shade!
Here it is on my hand and you can see that the color is a bit darker and a bit yellow next to my hand. I will have to say that I was very disappointed when I saw the color on my hand and I was tempted to return the product.

When I blended it out the color did lighten up a little, but I decided I was going to give it a real try and wear it for a few days to give a complete verdict on what I thought about this foundation.

Verdict:
After applying this foundations the first time I realized it wasn't as dark when I blended it in, and set a lighter powder on top, but still not light enough for the winter season. I will wear this during the summer when I have my fake tan on lol. The foundation had a medium coverage like the box said, and can be layered nicely, I also found that it did not cling to any dry patches on my face. Also this did not feel drying, and had a satin like appearance once on my skin.
The lasting factor was also a plus, I wore it all day and I only had to powder up once. It seemed to have stayed put until I removed it later on that night. I also feel that it didn't get cakey after I had to touch up a few oily areas which can happen with certain foundations. I wore the for a couple of days when I wouldn't be seeing too many people, and it didn't break me out at all! That is also a must for me, and my skin seemed to agree with the formulation.
I am glad that I purchased this product, and I look forward to using this during the summer time when it will look a bit more natural with my coloring.

Estee Lauder Haul & Swatches!

Great travel set for fast makeup application!

I love all of these colors that come in this compact, pink and peach to choose from!
The lipstick is also a little more vibrant than a nude to dress up any occasion.

Great texture and application this blush is fool-proof and looks great on most skin tones. The blush isn't too stiff or powdery but a great mixture of both to give just the right amount of color on your blush brush.

Love the shine on my lips when I wear this lipstick, it does not dry my lips out and lasts a good 2-3 hours of normal wear.

Here are the swatches of all the products in the pictures above. The lipstick can go from a sheer wash of color and can be layered for a more opaque look. I also love the brown bronzer/contour color, I have been using this almost everyday for contouring.

ART of EYES: Subtle Smokey Estee Lauder

Ordered this a few weeks ago, and I am very excited to use it!

Here is a close up of the products it came with, and I have heard really good things about the eyeliner and that it lasts all day. I have also been wanting to try the concealer by the Double Wear line since it claims to cover skin very well.

Loving the colors on this! All of them look like they will work together nicely, I have yet to try these colors, but I am excited to swatch them soon with a FOTD Look!
The only negative thing that I would have to say is the size of this compact is fairly small which might be a problem with using them with some of my larger eyeshadow brushes...but we will see.

The bag and the box it came in, I like the bag it's very cute and I will most likely use it in my purse for traveling purposes to keep my fav products with me.

FOTD: Lancome Shadows and Foundation Look

Me wearing the shadows from my Lancome GWP quad. I didn't use the peachy color in this particular look, but I do love that color! I wanted a classic look for day or for night time fun, and I thought the colors blended very well together. The look lasted the whole day without using any primer on my eyes!

I am also wearing the Lancome foundation, which I have enjoyed wearing. I found it lasted me a good 8 hours with one powdering since I have oily skin. I like that it does not get cakey or separate during the day, which I have had some problems with in the past with wear time on some other foundations. The finish on this is more on the dewy side I would say, so I had to set my face with some loose powder for a more matte look.

On my lips I have on Shy Girl from MAC, I got this shade about 2 months ago, and I really like it for my skin tone. It has been a great nude for me to wear when I don't feel like wearing a bold lip. I find that it can show chapped lips, and I would put some lip balm on before applying this.

A Little Bit of Me

  • How long have you been blogging?I have been blogging consistently for about 2 months, although I have had my blog for over a year only posted a few posts then I forgot about it. This time around I can truly say I have begun blogging!
  • What/who inspired you to start blogging? I would say all the beauty bloggers out there that I frequently visit, I would always look at their blog and be like wow I should do this! Then one day I really got serious about it and started blogging. I think if I hadn't seen someone else doing it I would never do it myself, and it makes you feel good to know that anyone can create a blog, but you have to really want to do it to keep it going.
  • Did you tell your family and friends about your blog? If so, what was their reaction? Are they supportive or "in the dark" about your blogging? I didn't tell everyone, but they soon figured it out, and they are supportive. I don't think they all get the concept though, which is alright.
  • What goals or dreams did your have for your blog when you started? Have you accomplished them? I would say that at the beginning I did not understand blogging much at all, it wasn't until my second attempt.  I knew how to finally get in the groove of blogging. I feel that I am just beginning, and just starting to get my stuff out there. I hope by this time next year my following will be much greater, and my blog itself will be much better!
  • If you could give your beginner-blogger-self one tip of advice, what would it be? I would say to stick to your mini goals, and to be consistent with all that you do.
  • What is your favorite and least favorite thing about being a blogger? Knowing that there is a negative comment out there just waiting around the corner, and I really do not look forward to that moment.
  • What does your blog name mean? How did you decide on it? I love my blog name, and it had to have venus in it which we all know represents love and beauty. Having that in my name was key and I knew I had to find something catchy to go along with it, and a blog is like an oasis to whatever your reading about. That's how I came up with Vivacious Venus Beauty Blog Oasis!
